Using a clay bar removes contaminants from the pores of the paint that aren't removed during a normal wash. In this video we will show you how to properly clay your car and how to prepare your car for a polish. Tear off a small piece of the clay bar and shape it into a disc that covers two or three fingers. Spray a generous coat of Chemical Guys Clay Luber over the surface to keep the bar lubricated, prevent marring, and avoid installing scratches or swirls.
Before attempting any type of paint correction, use a clay bar to pick up any contamination that has been embedded in the paintwork.
To start off, Jenn washed this Maserati using a foam cannon in combination with GlossWorkz Auto Wash. Once the surface was cleaned, we saw that the paint was completely thrashed and covered with scratches and swirls. It desperately needs a polish, which is why Nick is demonstrating how to use a clay bar as well as choosing the correct bar for the job.
